Cradle of the Clearinghouse

The Osaka Exchange (later to become the Osaka Bank Bill Exchange) was opened in 1880 as Japan’s first exchange, to be followed by the opening of a new exchange in Tokyo 8 years later. For the past 100 years, the Osaka Bank Bill Exchange has contributed to the sound circulation of bank bills and the prosperity of Osaka’s economy.
