Dōguyasuji is a shopping street in the heart of Osaka well-known for its long history of serving the professional food & restaurant industry with all the tools of its trade. Along this street you can find every kind of cooking utensil used in Japanese cooking; tableware, shop decor items and even, staff uniforms are also on sale.
As of April 1, 2013 Dōguyasuji Shopping Street has, in places, become a Duty-Free complex: foreigners looking for those essential, hard to find, Japanese cooking utensils, can now shop duty-free at (currently) 11 stores in and around the shopping arcade (eligibility requires a valid passport to be shown.)
The Duty-Free shops will introduce a “Translation Machine” which will assist you to communicate better with shop staff. The service is available in 4 languages: English, Chinese, Korean, and French.
