Many buildings remain from the Meiji and Showa eras showcasing the creative architectural styles of prewar Osaka. Many of these buildings did not adhere to the conventional patterns of architecture of the times, and each building has its own unique style. Recently many cafes and restaurants have opened in these buildings, a breathing new life into a district that was once very quiet. The district has been reborn as a stylish area for grownups and trendsetters lured by the many sites, sounds and tastes of Minami.
