Literary Monument of Saikaku Ihara

This monument was erected for Saikaku Ihara, the famous writer of the Edo p e r i o d (1603 to 1867). This black granite monument is engraved with the initial verse of one of his works, “Nihon Eitaigura” (or, Japanese Treasury for the Ages).
