Built in 1900, this is an excellent example of a black-lacquered wooden “omoteya tsukuri” style traditional tradesman’s house. It has three warehouses in addition to a shop wing and main wing. Each private room is in a different design, the kitchen has an atrium, and it also has a clay oven range and its own well.
By visiting here, you can image how merchants lived in the Meiji period (1868 to 1912).
